Abstract: What happens when you immerse a group of blind and low vision and fully sighted undergraduates in a vibrant astronomy and STEM education setting for a seven-week summer experience? The original goal of the 2017 summer program was to teach this group everything they would need to know to become role models and mentors for an NSF project called Innovators Developing Accessible Tools for Astronomy (IDATA). What happened was so much deeper than the original intent that IDATA decided to take a second look in what might well be the final summer of operation for the historic Yerkes Observatory.
