Abstract: The RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) collected from 2003 to 2013 spectra for half a million low-mass stars of our galaxy. The information collected by the project helped to better understand the observed properties of the Milky Way outside the immediate Solar neighborhood and to unravel parts of the history of the evolution of the Galaxy. In this paper we make an overview of the results of RAVE and present some perspectives about future synergies of this project with the Gaia mission.
