Abstract: We present a model for spectral variability of blazars. The variability is related to anisotropies in the comoving frame of the jet, associated with the geometry of the shocks which are responsible for the acceleration of particles. The model has been used to explain: 1) the ultrarapid burst of the TeV emission of MKN 421 which occurred on May 15, 1996; 2) the light curves of PKS 2155-304 in the X rays, EUVE, and UV obtained simultaneously in May 1994. In the same framework, we shall discuss a possible origin of Intraday Variability at radio frequencies.
