		Model calculations suggest that the interactions of the relativistic jets with the ambient medium of the host galaxies play a decisive role for the acceleration of high energy particles in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and thus for the production of non-thermal emission. Nevertheless, the micro-physics of these interactions is not well understood. I use kinetic theory to self-consistently model
the interaction of a relativistically moving, dense plasma cloud in the jet with ambient matter. Interstellar particles that enter the plasma cloud trigger a relativistic two-stream instability, by which these particles are isotropized in the jet frame, thus providing relativistic particles. I calculate the radiation products of these particles and find remarkable agreement with existing multiwavelength data of blazars. |
