| Abstract: |
We present work in progress on a sample of 12 northern HII galaxies (see Table1). We obtained optical spectra (resolution 5A) with the 2.1m telescope at San Pedro Martir, BC, Mexico. We detected a narrow (7A FWHM) feature at HeII 4686 for only 1 galaxy (Case 184) and barely detected this feature for 2 others (Case 845 & Mrk 496). We did not detect HeII 4686 for Mrk 33 nor G0833+625. Case 184 is the lowest metal abundance galaxy in our sample, as inferred from its NII6584/Half ratio, this being consistent with the occurrence of narrow nebular HeII 4686 in metal-deficient galaxies. |
