Abstract:	The Synphot package developed at STScI allows HST users to model observations and calculate expected count rates using a database of HST optical component efficiencies and an internal spectrum/passband modeling language. The structure of the database is discussed and it is shown how other telescopes can make use of the same software by making changes to the database.
