| Abstract: |
Observational data on CNO abundances in red giants are presented and compared to theoretical predictions. The relationship of CNO to stellar evolution is considered with attention given to dredge-up phases, an extra mixing mechanism, and bimodal CN strengths. Lines available for CNO abundance determinations in red giants are studied as well as LTE and non-LTE affected lines, dissociative equilibrium, and the oxygen abundance in metal-poor stars. |
