| Abstract: |
We present preliminary results from a GALEX far-ultraviolet imaging survey of the Praesepe open cluster to identify the complete white dwarf population via detection of a far-UV excess in the cluster main sequence. Such an excess exhibited in stars of spectral types K and earlier is indicative of binarity with an unresolved white dwarf companion. Finding the complete white dwarf population is of vital importance in constraining the initial mass-final mass relation for white dwarfs and the cluster's initial mass function. |
