Julie Swarstad Johnson and Christopher Cokinos will discuss the new trailblazing anthology Beyond Earth's Edge: The Poetry of Spaceflight, published by the University of Arizona Press. Spanning a range of poetic responses to the Space Age, the book and presentation will provide listeners with samples of poems read by the co-editors and (on taped clips) some of the poets themselves. Presenters will read from mini-essays about the confluence between poetry and space and brainstorm how this confluence can work in a variety of classrooms. Audience q and a will be vital in sussing out STEAM ideas. |
