		| Abstract: |
The development of optical interferometry in the U.S. is contrasted to that in the ESO community.
In the U.S., an erratic track record of support, limited community access and lack of a current,
clear mandate continue to throttle development and science operations. The recent and on-going
decommissioning of unique and productive facilities has exacted a significant price in lost
infrastructure investment and science productivity. |
