		| Abstract: |
The GAVO cross-matcher is a statistical multi-catalogue matcher operating on astrometric coordinates and individual associated uncertainties. A local input list of sky-positions is used for querying one or more distributed archives. The counterparts returned from cone searches in the different catalogues are combined into hypothetical “match-candidates”. Unlikely counterpart combinations are filtered out using a reduced χ2-metric. For all surviving match-candidates, astrometric, photometric and auxiliary information is assembled into a comprehensive match table, which can be analyzed with the help of a versatile table tool. The GAVO cross-matcher has successfully been used in a scientific investigation, where an extremely rare type of quasar was found. |
