		| Abstract: |
Polarization observations appear to be a valuable tool for detecting and studying extrasolar planetary atmospheres. Here, we present numerical simulations of the degree of linear polarization P of starlight reflected by an orbiting planet across the wavelength interval from 0.3 to 3.2 microns, for three types of model atmospheres. The simulations show that P varies with the wavelength and that the variation depends strongly on the atmospheric constituents. |
