		| Abstract: |
Optical fibres will allow synthesis arrays to be connected across hundreds or thousands of km at multi-Gb/s bandwidths hence providing substantial increases in sensitivity. e-MERLIN will use a dedicated network spanning 200 km in the UK. e-VLBI will make use of existing bandwidth capacity provided by the research networks and their international peering networks to make the transition to flexible, real-time arrays with the potential for bandwidth increases as new correlators become available. |
