		| Abstract: |
G28.17+0.05 is a giant HI cloud lying in the inner Galactic plane with a mass in atomic gas that may be as large as 105 Msolar. It appears to be self-gravitating, highly turbulent, and predominantly molecular, but with little star formation. We suggest that it is just now entering a spiral arm and beginning the transition from atomic to molecular. Many more clouds like this may exist as yet undetected in the inner Galaxy. |
