		| Abstract: |
Most studies of H2 in planetary nebulae are based on observations of near-IR emission lines from excited vibrational levels populated by shocks and/or UV radiation. When the line of sight to a UV-bright central star passes through a translucent molecular layer, the H2 can also be observed via absorption lines, with FUSE for v = 0, 1 and with HST for v ≥ 2. We present a case-study of the PN BD+30°3639, which displays an extremely rich absorption spectrum and offers a detailed look at photo-excited H2 near a PN central star. |
