| Abstract: |
47 Cas (F0 V, 33 pc distance) has been observed in a number of campaigns to study its luminous radio and X-ray corona and its strong chromospheric line emission. The {\it Hipparcos} satellite has detected orbital motion of the F star, indicating that it possesses a companion of about one solar mass, which is most likely a G star. In addition, radio data indicate that a third stellar component is also present at a separation of about 2.5". The young age of this system and its high X-ray flux make it conceivable that the G star companion is an ultra-fast rotator of the type seen in the Pleiades cluster. |
