Abstract: Many astronomers would like to share datasets with their community but have no manpower to develop databases providing high-level scientific functionalities. The Saada project aims to help them by automatically generating from FITS files databases (SaadaDBs) located on any Linux, Mac or Windows computer. SaadaDBs can simultaneously host heterogeneous sets of spectra, images and source lists. Data stored in SaadaDBs can be correlated with each other using qualified links representing for example cross-identifications or any other scientifically meaningful relation. The query engine is based on a specific language (SaadaQL) well suited to the data model. In addition to classical astronomical queries, SaadaQL can process constraints on links between correlated data. Databases created by SAADA can be accessed by a Web interface allowing data browsing or data selection with complex queries. SaadaDBs also implement VO protocols and thus provide a simple mean to publish local data into the VO.
