Abstract: Recent observations with the FUSE spacecraft have furnished evidence for a ~300,000 K plasma above/below the orbital plane in three Algol systems (V356 Sgr, TT Hya, and RY Per) containing B primaries. The location of the hot plasma was mapped from FUSE spectra obtained throughout totality as the disk of the FUV-dark secondary occulted components of the circumstellar gas. We discuss highlights of the observations and offer a suggestion that the apparent bipolar flow results from a splash of material as the gas stream impacts the photosphere of the mass gainer.
