Abstract: The substantial fraction of GRBs for which no optical afterglow has been detected is often referred to as dark bursts. The overall afterglow spectrum is reasonably well established and indicated that a relation between the emission level at optical and other wavelengths may be expected. The available data for X-ray afterglows in particular are examined in order to assess phenomenologically their connection to the optical afterglow emission. For dark bursts, this relations may be employed to estimate optical logically their connection to the optical afterglow emission. For dark bursts, this relation may be employed to estimate optical emission strength that can be confronted with the unsuccessful optical follow-ups.
