Abstract: Data re-usability and science results enhancement are mainstream directives of both the EU and international communities. Astronomical data set finding, starting from a publication, is nowadays facilitated by the usage of persistent identifiers (like DOI or PIDs), if referred to in the papers. As INAF-ICT has its own DOI repository, as well as scientific data archives, it is desirable to have a symbolic link to data to avoid data duplication. To reach this goal additional metadata, needed to create the DOI, is requested from each collaboration’s astronomers during data set DOI creation. In this way, both articles and archive data sets can be linked together with little additional effort. Provided that all the metadata are correctly filed, an archive search result can potentially provide a list of data sets linked, in full or in part, to existing publications automatically. This approach benefits both archive miners and increases data citation. The architecture proposed is depicted and a discussion about it is encouraged.
