Abstract: The center of the Milky Way provides a promising target to search for signatures of dark matter self-annihilation and novel high-energy astrophysical source emissions. We review on-going studies of the so-called "Fermi GeV Excess" discovered in Fermi-LAT data. We cover recent developments that yield new insights on astrophysical emissions from the galactic bulge, in particular those arising from millisecond pulsars. We discuss their impacts for understanding the origins of the Fermi GeV Excess and comment on open questions for the future.
