Abstract: Over the past decade, the data rate from radio interferometers has increased by around two orders of magnitude. Both of the major interferometers served by NRAO, ALMA and the Jansky–VLA, now have PB–scale archives, and an average observing program can easily generate 1 TB of data. To help our users cope with this rapid increase in data volume, NRAO is developing a “Science Ready Data Products” (SRDP) initiative to help our users deal with the large volume of data and associated complicated and intensive data processing requirements. SRDP has several aspects, ranging from the delivery of calibrated visibility data to users to image for themselves, automated pipelines to create a set of standard image products, and a science platform where users can specify details of the processing and tune the products to their needs. We have a pilot program to help us assess the likely demand and resource requirements for this initiative. In this paper, we present the initial results of this pilot program, and our plans to ramp up SRDP over the next five years.
