Abstract: The super-massive star η Carinae has been monitored in the 2 – 10 keV energy band with the Proportional Counter Array on board the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer since February 1998. This long-term monitoring campaign has captured: (1) two active phases of η Car occurring in the 5.5-yr period; (2) quasi-periodic X-ray flares; and (3) long-term secular changes in the property of hard X-ray spectrum from η Carinae. This work will present our current understanding on the fundamentals of hard X-ray emission and its variations in η Carinae.
