Abstract: There is growing evidence that planetary systems exist around significant numbers of white dwarf stars. As yet, however, no planets have been detected transiting such objects despite a previous survey using SuperWASP, which monitored a few hundred white dwarfs. Here we review the results from SuperWASP and discuss two new surveys, the Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS) and the Kepler 2 mission, and their potential to further constrain the presence of planets around white dwarfs, including Earth-sized companions within the habitable zone.
