Abstract: We presents the results of a spectral study of a Herbig Ae/Be star AB Aur in the UV and optical wavelength ranges. For the first time, we have discovered a 6.1±0.1 day periodic variability in the intensities of spectral lines both in the UV and optical wavelength ranges. As the magnetic fields in stars of this type are not significant, the observed spectral variability is discussed within the frame of planet formation mechanisms, which possibly occur in the circumstellar environment.
