Abstract: We have spectroscopically observed the star σ Scl during two seasons (2011–2012) with the high dispersion spectrograph FEROS (R=48 000) attached to the 2.2-m MPG/ESO telescope at La Silla.1 We did not find any spectral changes in a total of 60 obtained spectra. The chemical composition of σ Scl is very similar to the solar one. We are also unable to find any periodic photometric variations of the star. Consequently, we cannot classify it as a CP star.
