Abstract: Masses of central stars are derived for a sample of planetary nebulae from the Milky Way bulge, using a detailed analysis of the kinematics of the nebulae. The masses are significantly discrepant from the mass distribution of white dwarfs. We show that this may be caused by an underestimation of post-AGB evolution speeds in stellar evolution models, especially for the lowest mass stars. A much improved fit is obtained if we accelerate the model evolution by a factor of four. This also reproduces well two stellar masses measured through asteroseismology. Such an acceleration is possible if the envelope mass at the tip of the AGB is overestimated in the models.
