Abstract: Type Ia supernovae are the best cosmological distance indicator and the nature of their progenitors therefore play a crucial role in cosmology. There are mainly two progenitor scenarios, the single degenerate scenario and the double degenerate scenario. In this invited review talk, I show that the former is favored both observationally and theoretically.
