Abstract: We present the first infrared cluster observations using the newly installed Wide Field Camera 3 aboard the Hubble Space Telescope. We use this data to search for z∼7–10 Lyman break galaxies lensed by the Bullet Cluster. We find 10 z∼7 candidates, one of which is possibly multiply-imaged. Using magnification maps from a combined weak and strong lensing mass reconstruction of the Bullet Cluster we estimate magnifications at the locations of our candidates. We find magnifications of up to 12, which allows us to probe up to 2.7 magnitudes fainter than otherwise possible. We find a volume density of these galaxies as a function of intrinsic magnitude (upon correcting for magnification) consistent with published blank field surveys, despite using much shallower data, and demonstrate the effectiveness of cluster surveys in the search for z∼7 galaxies.
