Abstract: The chemical composition and carbon isotope ratio of the bright, giant star YY Psc (M3 III) are investigated from high resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra obtained with the ESO VLT/CRIRES instrument. The high-quality, sharp-lined spectrum was obtained as part of the ongoing CRIRES–POP observing program. The spectrum was analyzed using synthetic spectrum techniques, and a preliminary analysis shows that the 12C/13C ratio is ∼ 10 and the iron abundance is consistent with the solar value.
