Abstract: Simulated observational data for complex astronomical instruments such as ALMA provides users with the properties, sensitivities, and dynamical ranges that are possible with the telescope, and helps them decide planning observations. In addition, it enables us to test data reduction procedures and their reliability by comparing reduced simulation data with the input model. In order to implement the capability of simulating single dish observation in CASA (Common Astronomical Software Applications), a task for single dish observation simulation is now under development and the first prototype task is available in CASA 3.0 released in December 2009. We report the current status of development, future plans and perspectives of the single dish observation simulator in CASA.
