Abstract: We discuss the results of low resolution Spitzer/IRS slit-scan observations towards the inner regions of the HH211 outflow. Within the wavelength coverage of the low resolution IRS modules (5.2 – 37 μm), we have detected and mapped the v=0–0 S(0) - S(7) H2 lines as well as fine-structure lines of S, Fe+, and Si+. The detected rotational H2 transitions are employed as probes of the physical conditions in the jet at the vicinity of the driving source and compared with an existing grid of C and J-type shock models. Atomic lines present in our spectra are detected very close to the protostellar source and treated separately as probes for the existence of a deeply embedded atomic jet. The relative influence of the molecular and atomic components is examined in conjunction with the physical properties of the molecular (CO and SiO) jet.
