Abstract: We investigate the structure of the pulsar magnetosphere as obtained through time dependent three-dimensional numerical simulations of a rotating magnetic dipole. We give particular emphasis to the strong electric current sheet that develops at the tip of the closed line region on the light cylinder and beyond. We show that curvature radiation from relativistic leptons in the current sheet may naturally account for several features of the observed high-energy pulsar emission.
