Abstract: For the first time in galactic dynamics, the stellar disk of the Galaxy is treated by using the quasilinear (or weakly nonlinear) theory. It is shown that the nonresonant interaction of stars with Jeans-unstable aperiodic density waves in the disk of the Galaxy accounts for the observed increase in the residual (chaotic) stellar plane velocities with age.
