Abstract: Filled bolometer arrays are currently being developed to fully sample the focal plane of the PACS photometer. PACS is one of three instruments aboard the Herschel Space Observatory, which will be launched by the European Space Agency in 2007. The photometer covers the spectral range from 60 to 210 λm with two detectors: one with 2048 pixels devoted to measurements from 60 to 130 λm, and another with 512 pixels covering the 130 to 210 λm wavelength region. The detector design for each pixel is adapted so that their performance is close to the theoretical sensitivity limit under the foreseen background. We describe the performance of these detector arrays, and the program to adapt them to ground based observations.
