Abstract: We compare different escape probability approximations commonly used for the line transfer, with full transfer computations made with the code TITAN designed for thick hot media. For several cases typical of the UV-X emitting region in AGN, we show that they can have a strong influence on the computed structure of the medium (temperature and ionization state), and consequently on the computed emitted spectrum in the soft X-ray range. We stress that the choice of the approximation is therefore important.
