Abstract: Brown dwarfs (BDs) are cool star-like objects with masses too low to burn hydrogen, yet too large to be planets. Here we investigate the dynamical evolution of this substellar population in open clusters using N-body calculations. Results from these simulations include preferential escape of BDs and uniform distribution of the BD population even at late stages of the evolution of the cluster. The evolution of the BD population depends strongly on the assumed mass function.
