Abstract: Last Winter, the ESO/ST-ECF archive celebrated its tenth anniversary. During the past ten years the archive, which initially served HST data to the European users, saw its holdings and usage grow exponentially, thanks mostly to the addition of the ESO data and to a number of improvements. At the occasion of the anniversary, a brochure was produced which highlighted the various services available. It can be downloaded from ESO/ST-ECF archive In this contribution, we want to focus mostly on the data retrieval and processing system, the core of our archive, know as the Data Request Handler. Its development started in 1990 and has undergone a continuous stream of improvements until today. The system has three asynchronous components (file retrieval, dataset processing, and request closure) and uses a database management system to control the parallelism of the tasks as well as the status of the requests.
