Abstract: Condon (1997) has analyzed the uncertainties in Gaussian fits in the presence of both correlated and uncorrelated noise. While the latter is comparatively simple, the former is not and Condon's results need reconsideration. Monte Carlo techniques have been used to study the fitting of a known source in the presence of noise correlated on lengths similar to the source dimension and to study the automatic finding/fitting of such sources.
