Abstract: Variable radio-emission power of P Cygni is caused by the variation of the ionization fraction in the wind. We studied the dependence of the ionization structure on variable strength of the diffuse Lc radiation in the outer wind. Shell ejections and the interaction with the ambient wind lead to the inhomogeneous density structure and to shocks in the outer wind. The clumping-corrected mass-loss rate of P Cygni is 1.5-2 10-5 Mo/yr.
