Abstract: The results of a kinematical study of the asymmetrical planetary nebula IC 4593, using the Manchester echelle spectrometer (MES) combined with the 2.12m San Pedro Mártir telescope, are reported. The strings of knots in the halo are shown to be inert with bulk motions very close to the heliocentric radial velocity (V sys) and low turbulent motions in their Hα emitting volumes. Faint extended high-speed flows of up to &#x2213100kms-1 with respect to V sys are found to be emerging from the nebular core.
