Abstract: The general theoretical basis of disc-star magnetic interaction is discussed, with emphasis on magnetic CVs (mCVs). We explore the mechanism of how materials lift off the field-matter interaction region. We find solutions to the Bernoulli integral of the curtain flow only when the flow is near-Alfvenic initially. These solutions are associated with features contrary to common beliefs: namely significant departure from stellar corotation and huge toroidal magnetic fields on the curtain base. The existence of the solutions shows that steady axisymmetric curtain accretion, though extraordinarily restrictive, is physically viable.
