Abstract: Results of 2D modelling of the gas flow structure in a binary system with parameters close to those of the classical symbiotic star Z And for different states and different wind velocity regimes are presented. The mechanism explaining the changes of the accretion rate providing the transition between quiescent and active stages proposed in our previous works (Bisikalo et al. 2002) has been confirmed. It has been also shown that after the burning regime change on the accretor, the structure of two S-shaped shocks and a contact discontinuity forms in the space between components of the system. The modelled changes of parameters caused by the formation of these shocks are in agreement with the observed brightness changes.
