Abstract: Although magnetic fields are thought to be highly important for the structure and evolution of T Tauri stars, very few attempts to measure the field have actually been made, and evidence for the fields is thus rather indirect at present. In this work, we present new measurements of the magnetic field strength for the two classical T Tauri stars Lk Ca 15 and T Tauri and for the two Weak-Line T Tauri stars UX Tau and Lk Ca 16. For all four stars we find fields in the range between fB=1.0 and 2.5 kG. The detection of such strong fields clearly emphasises the importance of strong magnetic fields in T Tauri stars.
