Abstract: A new and powerful methodology for treating noise and clutter in astronomical images is described. This is based on the use of the redundant à trous wavelet transform, and the multiresolution support data structure. Variance stabilization and noise modeling are discussed. A number of the examples used in the presentation are shown.
