Abstract: Organised by the informal group STACC (Small Telescope Array of CCD Cameras) observations of variable stars (mainly d Scutis so far) are carried out. Early 1998 we are planning an extensive 3 month campaign on the multimode pulsator BN Cnc in the Praesepe cluster. Open clusters are key targets when stellar evolution theories are tested. Praesepe has a rich population of d Scuti's, which have been observed with networks of photometers (DSN, STEPHI). We have made preliminary CCD observations of BN Cnc to prepare for this campaign. Results from these observations are presented together with a reanalysis of previous photometric datasets. The present proposal is to form a group of observers that will do CCD photometry that will reach a hitherto unprecedented accuracy for this type of variables. The aim is also to increase the observing period above earlier photometric campaigns. We will then get the best power spectrum ever of the oscillations in a d Scuti star. Simultaneous or subsequent spectral observations are planned as well. Eventually we will get a data set, that permits a precise mode identification to be made for BN Cnc. This will lead to mode identification in the other variables in the same cluster due to the constraints for stars in a cluster. Eventually the puzzle of testing the stellar evolution of this cluster can be completed.
