Abstract: In addition to gravity, micron and submicron sized dust particles in orbit around planets also respond to solar radiation and magnetospheric perturbations, often resulting in surprisingly complex dynamics. Magnetospheric effects might explain the unusual spatial structure of Saturn's E-ring and also the Ulysses findings of small particles streaming away from Jupiter. These effects might also lead to the formation of new planetary rings.
