Abstract: The similarities between the old star clusters and the stellar populations of the Milky Way are discussed. While the clusters and stars of the halo and thick disk populations have identical properties, the globular clusters in the direction of the nuclear bulge are not representative of its stellar population. Recent developments in the dating of globular clusters are reviewed, and the implications for the evolution of the Galaxy are briefly discussed.
