Abstract: In an study of IRAS point sources with optical counterparts, HD 52961 has been shown to be one of the most metal-poor stars in the Galaxy. It is a pulsating star with a period of 72 days. Its IR excess and the CNO enhancements indicate that it is a post-AGB (asymptotic giant branch) star.
