Abstract: We statistically study the VLBI jet motions in a sample of 113 radio-loud AGNs, which consist of 85 radio quasars, 17 BL Lac objects, and 11 radio galaxies. In radio quasars, the results show there are acceleration and deceleration with distance from the core and the largest velocity occurs at 25–30 pc in the plane of sky. In BL Lac objects, the results show multi-apexes and the acceleration occurs on smaller scale. In radio galaxies, the results show the very mild superluminal motions and no apparent acceleration. It is suggested that for TeV gamma-ray sources the radio knots’ acceleration may be accomplished in the inner of pc scale, and for other gamma-ray sources they may be accomplished outside of pc scales (e.g., tens or hundreds of pc).
